It was a windy and showery day and quite chilly for the time of year, We arrived for the beach clean at 3pm, just as a heavey shower started, so we waited in the car until 3:15 when the rain passed.

We had some interesting things to collect
  • the remains of someone's party that they had left on the beach
  • a number of fish and chip cartons that had been buried under stones, (it was clear that about 4 people had had a chip supper on the beach)
  • we also found three used nappies (what are people doing)
  • used dog poo bags (I hope someone can explain why lots of people think that they can collect their dog poo in little black bags and then leave them against the sea wall?)
  • the usual mix of rubbish from the sea, bottle tops, plastic bottles, beer cans, rope, fishing net cut-offs, crisp packets, etc.
Anyway, the weather was quite autumnal (it is still only May I suppose) but we all got out our bags and collected quite a lot despite the wind, which made handling the bags quite tricky.

About 5pm we called it a day, and thought ourselves lucky that the only shower of significance came at 3pm.We left the bags by the bins for the Council to collect and made our way home. As soon as we got in a heavy and sustained shower of rain started, so we shouldn't complain about the weather as we seem to have timed things quite well.
